Andrew Jackson's Hermitage is located at 4580 Rachel's Lane, Nashville, TN 37076. From I-40 west, take exit 221, and from I-40 East, take exit 221A. Then, Old Hickory Boulevard north until you see the entrance sign for The Hermitage on the right. Please note that Rachel's Lane is not accessible from Lebanon Pike.

Grounds Pass to The Hermitage includes access to the Andrew Jackson Center, where an introductory film, Jackson, is shown, as well as where the museum and exhibits are located. Tickets also include an audio tour, which can be accessed on any mobile device as you walk the property. You also are able to visit the garden, other historic buildings on the site, and enjoy walking trails, historical markers, and more on the 1,120 acres that make up The Hermitage plantation.

Is the Hermitage suitable for children?

Yes, the Hermitage offers engaging exhibits, outdoor trails, and self‑guided audio tours suitable for all ages. Plus, children ages 4 and under can enter for free.

Yes! Picnics are welcome at The Hermitage, and picnic tables are available throughout the property, including near the Andrew Jackson Center and the historic Hermitage Church. Guests are encouraged to bring bottled water to stay hydrated while exploring the grounds. Does The Hermitage offer a bag check on site?

The Hermitage offers a bag check, but they do encourage you to leave backpacks, large bags and large purses in your vehicle. Please note that any items worn or carried inside the premises are subject to search.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs are allowed to roam the historic grounds of the Hermitage as long as they remain leashed. However, they are not allowed inside any building, including the Hermitage mansion or Andrew Jackson Center. Please bring bags to dispose of waste.

Are service animals allowed?

Yes, ADA-defined service animals are allowed inside, including the museum buildings.

Is The Hermitage wheelchair accessible?

Motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs are welcome at the Hermitage. Due to the historic nature of the site, much of the grounds may present challenges to those in wheelchairs or those who have difficulty walking. Many of the paths are paved, and wheelchair ramps are available at the Hermitage mansion. Please note that the Hermitage mansion does not have an elevator, so the second floor is not accessible to those in wheelchairs. Interpreters on the first floor have photos available of the rooms on the second floor and would be happy to provide explanations of those rooms.
