This facility for indoor skydiving in Chicago recreates the freefall portion of a skydive with its wind flow. Skydivers worldwide use wind tunnels as training facilities because of their similarity to the real thing.
Each flight within the wind tunnel lasts 60 seconds. When jumping from an airplane, the free fall portion lasts approximately 45 seconds. Your admission has two (2) flights, so you will have two (2) turns in the wind tunnel with an instructor lasting 60 seconds each. The entire experience lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes from start to finish.
Yes, the iFLY vertical wind tunnel uses superior technology to produce smooth wall-to-wall airflow that is safe to fly in. Certified flight instructors will also ensure safe and enjoyable flight sessions—your instructor will be with you throughout your flight, regardless of your experience level.
Jumpsuits will be worn over casual clothes, preferably pants and a shirt without a collar. Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing should be worn with well-fitting, lace-up sneakers or running shoes. Flyers with long hair should secure it back braided or in a low bun to fit the helmet.
