Will we see Cypress Trees and Alligators?

Yes, they are smack in the middle of the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary (swamp country) that contains wetland suitable for the Bald Cypress and the Great Cypress. They conduct the tours on private property where there is no hunting allowed so expect to see alligators.

What makes your company better than the rest?

They conduct the tours on private property and have been doing so for 22 years. This means no competition in the area, less boat traffic to scare the animals, they can provide the most private tours possible. All of the Captains are born and raised on the Bayou, and they travel through natural wetlands, swamp, and bayous throughout the tour.

When is the best time of year to take a Swamp Tour?

Spring is incredible with all the animals doing what animals do while the trees and many flowers are in bloom and the nesting period for the waterfowl begin. Summertime is warm and humid which brings out the big Alligators and big birds like the Great Blue Heron and the White Egret. Fall is spectacular with very pleasant weather, an abundance of animals and beautiful foliage. With the mild winters, this is a great time of year also, winter brings out the fur-bearing (fuzzy) animals, like Nutria, deer, mink, otters and the migratory birds and alligators are still present as long as it is not below freezing.

Are mosquitoes a problem in the swamp?

No, not really. During daylight hours you will have to search high and low to find one so they are not a concern. At dawn and dusk, they can be present; however, the swamp has a tidal flow so they do not have to stagnate waters that are the breeding ground for mosquitoes. They do suggest that you take precautionary measures by adding mosquitoes repellent.

Are there restrooms?

Yes, on the swamp boats they do have a restroom.

Is there food and drink on the tour boats?

Yes, they do have snacks and drinks available.
