Good To Know

  • During whale season, December through March, majestic humpbacks are are often spotted along the Kona Coast.
  • Tour is approx. 3 hours. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early for check-in.
  • Freshwater shower, restrooms, plenty of shade and ample seating are available on board.
  • Enjoy lunch, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, and two complimentary alcoholic drinks per adult (21+). Additional beer and wine are available for purchase.
  • If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend bringing medication just in case.
  • Flotation devices, swim vests, and fins are provided. Snorkel and mask are available if you don’t bring your own.

The tour departs from the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor, Kalaoa, HI 96740. You should arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your selected cruise time to allow plenty of time to find parking. Please call the phone number on your E-ticket at least 24 hours prior to the tour to confirm the check-in details. Park at the fuel dock. Continue on foot till the end of the road and on the right you will see the Hawaii Nautical company sign at Outer Basin Slip 39, vessel "Honi Olani".

Bring a towel, anti-nausea medication, E-ticket, sunscreen, easy-to-remove shoes, and a photo ID along with cash if you wish to purchase additional alcoholic drinks. Buy or bring your snorkel and mask, or sanitized re-usable sets are available as a backup. There is plenty of covered space to place bags, belongings, towels and clothing that will stay dry.

What should I wear?

Come in swimsuits or casual clothing that may come in contact with water. Easy-to-remove shoes or flip flops are recommended. There are shaded, covered and dry areas of this boat, and also optional areas such as the front nets where you can enjoy sea spray and more wind.

Are children allowed onboard?

Yes. Children are welcome, and kids ages 3 and under can join for free, making this a great family-friendly Kona snorkeling experience.
