Description

Rock-a-Hula is a high-energy live show in Waikiki that celebrates Hawai‘i’s music, legends, and cultural traditions—all on stage at the Royal Hawaiian Theater. This 70-minute production takes audiences on a visual and musical journey from the 1920s to today, blending hula, Tahitian dance, fire knife performances, and contemporary pop with electrifying tribute acts to Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

The show begins with a dynamic three-screen visual presentation that immerses guests in Hawai‘i’s past, set to ancient chants and traditional kahiko hula. From there, the performance moves through decades of musical evolution, showcasing legendary hits brought to life by live vocalists, a professional band, and a talented ensemble of dancers. Computer-generated visuals combine with authentic concert footage to recreate the magic of iconic performances on stage.

Guests enjoy more than just music—each scene is infused with cultural storytelling and Hawaiian artistry. The finale invites the entire audience to join in singing “Aloha ‘Oe,” Hawai‘i’s most cherished farewell song composed by Princess Lili‘uokalani, leaving a lasting emotional connection to the islands.

General show admission includes mezzanine seating, access to the Gallery Old Hawaii and Gallery Memorabilia, and a post-show meet-and-greet with the cast. For those looking to elevate the evening, Rock-a-Hula offers several dinner and show packages that combine award-winning entertainment with gourmet Hawaiian cuisine and VIP amenities:
  • Original Waikiki Luau Buffet + Rockin' Show: Includes an island-style buffet dinner with carved roast pig, grilled entrees, tropical sides, dessert, and a welcome Mai Tai—followed by general seating for the show.
  • VIP Waikiki Luau Buffet + Rockin' Show: Features the same buffet menu, with the addition of VIP seating, a fresh orchid lei, and a premium beverage.
  • Green Room Waikiki Luau Buffet + Rockin' Show: Offers the full VIP experience, including premier theater seating, a Green Room reception, backstage tour, glass of “champagne,” Mai Tai, premium drink, gourmet buffet, and orchid lei.
