Zoo Miami is the ideal place for an individual, a couple, or an entire family to spend a day. As a matter of fact, visitors can travel the world in one day! They will visit Africa, Asia, the Amazon, and Australia. Zoo Miami consists of 340 developed acres with more than 2,000 animals and over 1,200 plants and trees which are planted in such a way as to mimic the animals’ natural habitats.

Guests will be able to have animal encounters; meet the keepers during scheduled Meet the Zookeeper talks throughout the day; and much more. They will enjoy jaguars, lions, tigers, orangutans, elephants, the Wings of Asia Aviary (the largest Asian-themed aviary in the western hemisphere with hundreds of free-flying birds), gorillas, chimps, kangaroos, frogs, snakes, meerkats, and more animals than we could ever list.

At Amazon and Beyond, experience a rainforest, jaguars, anacondas, bats, venomous snakes (behind glass exhibits, of course), rare frogs, harpy eagles, and a 48,000-gallon aquarium. And our Playworld Playground is a great place for kids to burn off some of that excess energy. Half jungle, half water park, they can stay dry or wet. Zoo Miami has food and drink concession stands throughout and a beautiful gift shop where you can buy that special memento that will bring back wonderful memories of Zoo Miami!

Yes, for an additional cost on-site. You must be at least 18 years old to rent the safari cycle.

How long does it take to get around the zoo?

The average visit takes about 4–5 hours. However, 8 hours is not enough for some people. It depends on whether you walk, rent a safari cycle, or take a tram tour.

How is the Miami Zoo weather?

The weather may vary per day, so visit forecasting sites to help you predict the weather for the day.

Can I bring food and drinks inside the park?

Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the park except bottled water, baby formula and food, and snacks for toddlers. Guests are welcome to leave properly packed food at the lobby receptionist in the administration building and to use the picnic area located at the front of the zoo to eat.

Can we feed the animals?

Yes, for an additional fee onsite. You can also watch the zookeepers throughout the day talk about the animals and feed them. The animals are on strict diets and can only eat the food approved by veterinarians and prepared for them by their keepers.
